Job description

In this role at Apple, you will be a key member of the CAD Group, focusing on innovative designs and methodologies related to electromigration, thermal analysis, and failure mechanisms. Your hands-on experience will contribute to the development and refinement of gate-level and transistor-level designs. You will collaborate with various teams to support EM and thermal requirements while ensuring quality and continuous improvement. This position offers the opportunity to work with leading engineers and contribute to groundbreaking Apple products.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree with 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with EM, SEB, FIT, SHE, and thermal methodologies and calculations
  • Understanding of current density calculations and electromigration failure mechanisms
  • Experience in analysis involved in EM, including extraction, timing, and simulation
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Tcl, Python, or Perl
  • Familiarity with advanced packaging technologies and their unique EM challenges

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and deployment of comprehensive EM, SEB, and thermal methodologies across multiple advanced node designs
  • Develop and implement customized EM, SEB, and thermal solutions that scale with accuracy and capacity challenges
  • Support and maintain the EM, SEB, and thermal flow from concept through sign-off, including automation and quality metrics
  • Collaborate with various teams on EM and FIT requirements and trade-offs
  • Develop, validate, and maintain EM and thermal rule decks and verification methodologies for critical signal nets
  • Work closely with EDA vendors and foundries for tool qualification and model development
  • Participate in correlation studies between EM analysis tools and silicon failure analysis data

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
