Job description

This role at Apple involves taking ownership of the ESD and Latch-Up requirements for all integrated circuits developed by the company. The position requires collaboration with diverse teams and external vendors to ensure silicon designs meet Apple's specifications. The ideal candidate will work on delivering high-quality on-chip IPs that are immune to ESD and latchup events. This is an opportunity for an innovative ESD Designer to contribute to Apple's commitment to quality and efficiency.

Requirements

  • BS degree with 10+ years of relevant industry experience or MS degree with 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Deep understanding of transistor device characteristics.
  • Solid understanding of models used for testing ESD, including HBM, CDM, MM, and IEC-61000-4-2.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art ESD circuit design techniques and topologies.
  • Hands-on experience with design/layout EDA tools, including Virtuoso, Calibre, and Allegro.
  • Knowledge of ESD checking tools like PERC and Pathfinder.
  • Experience with Si processes used for high voltage, RF, or advanced ASICs.
  • Experience with ESD/LUP test and characterization equipment.
  • Strong initiative, collaboration, and ownership of responsibilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality on-chip IPs immune to ESD and latchup events.
  • Ensure ESD robust designs with minimum cost to mission-mode functions.
  • Collaborate closely with diverse teams within Apple and external vendors.
  • Take ownership of the ESD and Latch-Up requirements for all ICs developed by Apple.
  • Contribute to solving complex challenges in silicon design.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
