Job description
This role is part of the Hardware Technology CAD team, focusing on designing next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient system-on-chips (SoCs) for Apple products. The team is responsible for developing flows, tools, and methodologies that enhance design productivity and improve power, performance, and area (PPA). Engineers will collaborate with design teams and tool vendors to tackle physical design challenges and leverage GenAI tools for productivity improvements. This position offers the opportunity to impact a wide range of chips used across Apple's world-class products.
Requirements
- Minimum requirement of a BS degree and 3 years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience in CAD Tool, CAD flow, or physical design methodology.
- Hands-on knowledge of industry standard Place and Route (PNR) tools.
- Knowledge of Tcl, Python, or Perl scripting languages.
- Understanding of analysis involved in Physical Design, including extraction, timing, noise, and physical verification.
Responsibilities
- Participate and engage with cross-functional teams to tackle key physical design challenges.
- Develop innovative solutions in the physical design and optimization space.
- Develop and support implementation flows for multiple projects and design teams.
- Develop and maintain custom CAD tools for implementation and signoff.
- Create flows to enable successful deployment of new technology nodes.
- Develop tools and methodologies for best-in-class PPA and productivity, including ML-based solutions.
- Use and leverage GenAI tools to develop GenAI applications to improve design team productivity.
- Collaborate with other teams such as physical design verification, RC extraction, and static timing analysis.
- Work directly with EDA tool vendors to resolve tool issues and identify areas for tool improvements.
