Job description

This role focuses on improving physical synthesis techniques for Apple's processors, including CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs. You will work closely with design teams to develop methodologies and optimized flows that enhance performance and power efficiency. The position requires hands-on skills in the implementation flow from RTL through GDS signoff. You will also collaborate with EDA vendors to create custom solutions and influence tool roadmaps.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a BS degree and 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with TCL, Python, or Perl scripting languages
  • Experience with industry standard synthesis tools such as Fusion Compiler or Genus
  • Experience working with CAD tools and flow
  • Experience in CAD flow or FE methodology development
  • Experience with low power implementation flows (UPF) is a plus
  • Experience with logical equivalence tools such as Conformal LEC and/or Formality is a plus
  • Experience in linting, static timing analysis, low power checks (UPF), or place and route tools is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own the synthesis challenges that matter most to Apple Silicon
  • Develop, improve, and support the implementation flow from RTL through GDS signoff
  • Partner closely with design teams to define optimal methodologies and tools
  • Push beyond conventional synthesis limits by developing innovative techniques
  • Run full validation flows from RTL through place-and-route and timing signoff to demonstrate PPA improvements
  • Work directly with EDA vendors to shape tool roadmaps and build custom solutions

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
