This role is part of the Hardware Technology CAD team, focusing on the design and development of next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient system-on-chips (SoCs) for Apple products. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to tackle physical design challenges and improve design productivity using innovative solutions and methodologies. Engineers will work on developing flows, tools, and custom CAD tools while leveraging GenAI applications to enhance team efficiency. This role is critical in ensuring that Apple’s devices continue to meet the high standards expected by millions of users.

• Minimum requirement of a BS degree and 10 years of relevant industry experience.
• Proficiency with Tcl, Python, or Perl scripting languages.
• Experience in CAD flow or physical design methodology development.
• Ability to coordinate and drive initiatives with little to no oversight.
• Hands-on knowledge of industry standard place and route (PNR) tools.
• Expertise in analysis aspects of physical design including extraction, timing, noise, and physical verification.

• Participate and engage with cross-functional teams to tackle key physical design challenges.
• Develop innovative solutions in the physical design and optimization space.
• Develop and support implementation flows for multiple projects and design teams.
• Develop and maintain custom CAD tools for implementation and signoff.
• Create flows to enable successful deployment of new technology nodes.
• Develop tools and methodologies for best-in-class power, performance, area (PPA) and productivity including machine learning based solutions.
• Use and leverage GenAI tools to develop GenAI applications to improve design team productivity.
• Collaborate with other teams such as physical design verification, RC extraction, and static timing analysis.
• Work directly with EDA tool vendors to resolve tool issues and identify areas for tool improvements.
