JobsPhysical Design Methodology CAD Engineer
Job description
This role is part of the Hardware Technology CAD team, focusing on the design and development of next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient system-on-chips (SoCs) for Apple products. The team is responsible for creating innovative solutions in physical design and optimization, collaborating with various design teams and tool vendors. Engineers will leverage GenAI tools to enhance design productivity and develop methodologies for improved power, performance, and area (PPA). This position offers the opportunity to impact a wide range of chips used across Apple's world-class products.
Requirements
- Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Good understanding of VLSI and Physical Design basics through previous coursework or internships.
- Knowledge of Tcl, Python, or Perl scripting languages.
- Exposure to CAD tools, CAD flow, or physical design methodology.
- Understanding of analysis involved in Physical Design, including extraction, timing, noise, and physical verification.
Responsibilities
- Participate and engage with cross-functional teams to tackle key physical design challenges.
- Develop innovative solutions in the physical design and optimization space.
- Develop and support implementation flows for multiple projects and design teams.
- Develop and maintain custom CAD tools for implementation and signoff.
- Create flows to enable successful deployment of new technology nodes.
- Develop tools and methodologies for best-in-class PPA and productivity, including ML-based solutions.
- Use and leverage GenAI tools to develop applications that improve design team productivity.
- Collaborate with teams such as physical design verification, RC extraction, and static timing analysis.
- Work directly with EDA tool vendors to resolve tool issues and identify areas for improvement.
