Job description
The Hardware System Architect for Pixel Watch at Google is responsible for defining and implementing the hardware architecture for wearable products, focusing on ambient and edge computing applications. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and technology partners to ensure that all subsystems work together effectively. The architect will provide thought leadership in system design and platform architecture, ensuring performance, power, and cost goals are met. The position is part of the Watch Hardware Engineering team, which aims to innovate user experiences through advanced technology.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience working in a consumer electronics environment.
- 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
- 10 years of experience in computer architecture and System-on-Chip (SoC) design for Android-based hardware systems.
Responsibilities
- Architect the data processing paths and hardware-software interfaces for ambient and edge computing applications on wearable hardware.
- Define system and component-level specifications for performance, power, and thermals to support critical user journeys.
- Evaluate critical trade-offs between power, cost, and form factor while selecting chipsets and key components.
- Oversee system prototyping and integration, driving the validation and optimization process to meet established Key Performance Indicators.
- Investigate emerging technologies, algorithms, and architectures to drive innovation for future wearable products.
