Job description

This role at Apple involves the physical implementation of design partitions for a complex System on Chip (SoC) using advanced process technology. The position requires collaboration with design teams to debug constraints and improve timing, while also working closely with the Physical Design team to address issues and implement best practices. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in static timing analysis and timing closure, contributing to the creation of documentation and methodologies. This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that drives innovation in hardware design.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with large design static timing analysis and/or timing closure
  • Programming skills in Perl and TCL
  • Hands-on experience in static timing analysis
  • Familiarity with timing aspects of large high-performance SoC designs in sub-micron technologies
  • Proficiency in static timing analysis methodologies and understanding of noise, crosstalk, and OCV effects
  • Familiarity with circuit modeling, including SPICE models and worst-case corner selection
  • Knowledge of ECO techniques and implementation
  • Strong communication skills to describe issues and follow through to completion

Responsibilities

  • Work with design teams to understand and debug constraints and facilitate logic changes to improve timing
  • Collaborate with the Physical Design team to highlight issues and best practices
  • Create timing ECOs for project tapeout
  • Develop and maintain scripts and methodologies for analysis and runs
  • Create documentation and assist with guidelines and specifications
  • Conduct deep analysis of timing paths to identify key issues
  • Implement timing infrastructure

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
