Job description

We are looking for a seasoned Physical Design technical leader with expertise in high-performance and low-power design. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to develop efficient chip and IP physical architecture while considering design constraints early in the process. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of physical design implementation and will drive methodologies to streamline the physical design work. Strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record in deep submicron technology are essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledgeable in partition level P&R implementation including floorplanning, clock and power distribution.
  • Experience with large SOC designs exceeding 20 million gates and frequencies over 1GHz.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to execute to stringent schedule and die size requirements.
  • Familiarity with industry standard tools and understanding their capabilities and underlying algorithms.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of physical design implementation from RTL to GDS.
  • Collaborate to drive methodologies and best-known methods for physical design.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for the focus area.
  • Address challenging timing closure issues and optimize area and power.
  • Develop guidelines and checklists to streamline physical design work.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
