Job description
The GPU Silicon Characterization Team at Apple focuses on characterizing the behavior of embedded GPUs to optimize power and performance. This role involves collaboration with design, verification, productization, hardware, and software teams to enable world-class GPUs. The main focus is on planning, implementing, and executing validation plans for power and performance features. Team members will engage in test planning, execution, data analysis, and tool development to maximize performance and minimize power usage.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience working with at least one of the following architectures: GPU or CPU
- Experience with power and performance estimation and optimization
- Experience working in a lab environment
- Experience with Python
- Highly familiar with power-management techniques such as dynamic clock & power gating and dynamic voltage frequency scaling
- Experience debugging hardware and software issues in an embedded system
- Data analysis and visualization skills
- Experience with performance monitor features
- Experience with power measurements
- Expertise with system and SoC architectures
Responsibilities
- Identify and drive improvements in silicon-based characterization methodology
- Design, execute, and communicate plans to perform characterization work
- Configure system hardware and software for silicon characterization
- Lead failure triage and debug of underlying issues
- Develop, maintain, and improve automation tools
