The Staff Research Scientist Manager for Neutral Atoms in Quantum AI at Google will lead efforts in building a fault-tolerant quantum computer based on neutral atoms. This role involves direct research and development to advance the neutral atom quantum platform, translating theoretical concepts into practical experimental setups. The position requires collaboration with quantum-error-correction experts and contributions to the wider research community through publishing findings. The team focuses on unlocking the full potential of quantum computing to solve complex problems.
Requirements
- PhD degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience managing a team.
- One or more scientific publication submission(s) for conferences, journals, or public repositories related to quantum.
- 2 years of experience leading a research program is preferred.
- Experience in optical and mechanical design software is preferred.
- Expertise in building neutral atom experiments is preferred.
- Knowledge of computer science is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of hardware for a neutral-atom quantum computer apparatus.
- Lead the development of error-tailored architectures for quantum computing in collaboration with quantum-error-correction experts.
- Enable hardware studies to develop accurate error models for neutral-atom physical operations.
- Publish and disseminate research findings.
