Job description

The Senior Product Design Engineer for the Pixel Watch team at Google will focus on designing and delivering innovative wearable experiences. This role involves driving the design, analysis, and prototyping of new concepts in a product-oriented development environment. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure the successful integration of various components. The position requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
  • 5 years of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field is preferred.
  • 8 years of work experience in consumer product design is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Apply design, engineering, and technical expertise to influence cross-functionally and deliver reliable mass production components.
  • Anticipate and address product design issues or risks, analyze data, and validate product design to suggest or implement design improvements.
  • Manage the product design, provide guidance to team members, and communicate progress while requesting feedback to prevent or remove roadblocks.
  • Travel internationally up to 20% of the time to oversee mechanical validation, design, and assembly.
