The Senior Manufacturing Engineer role at Google focuses on driving the end-to-end manufacturing life-cycle for Cloud hardware. The position involves developing custom silicon solutions and integrating advanced technologies to enhance manufacturing processes. The engineer will work closely with Contract Manufacturers and cross-functional teams to ensure readiness and optimize operations. This role emphasizes continuous improvement and the transition to a 'Smart Factory' ecosystem.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 8 years of experience in system integration processes, including development and sustaining.
- Knowledge of industry inspection and testing procedures.
- Expertise in statistical analysis tools and setting up Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability (CP), and Process Capability Index (CPK) monitoring.
- Ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Drive early NPI engagement, factory readiness, and technical Request for Quote (RFQ) definitions.
- Provide on-site supplier support and own Manufacturing Capability Assessments (MCA).
- Define capacity requirements and infrastructure needs using time studies and automation strategies.
- Manage products through End of Life (EOL) and monitor assembly yields.
- Advocate for cost-reduction, automation, and process optimizations to improve quality and efficiency.
