Job description

The Silicon Engineer role in the Quantum AI team at Google focuses on bridging advanced research and scalable production design. The engineer will develop next-generation control systems that incorporate cryogenic electronics and contribute to the research and development of novel control and readout systems. This position requires collaboration with IC designers to transition designs from prototyping to deployment, ensuring the systems operate effectively at various temperatures. The ultimate goal is to advance quantum computing capabilities and unlock solutions to complex problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of industry design experience.
  • Experience in ASIC development using Verilog or SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with physical synthesis, timing closure, and industry toolchains.
  • Experience in scripting for design automation using Python and Rust.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full implementation of digital systems, spanning front-end RTL development and back-end physical design.
  • Participate in the development of architectural requirements and technical specifications for digital sub-systems.
  • Transition manual design processes into automated, industrial toolchains.
  • Develop documentation and solicit feedback on designs via design reviews.
  • Support the development of cryogenic digital design models and deployment of technologies.
