Job description
The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer for Optics at Google will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of optical components from new product introduction through to end-of-life. This role involves collaboration with suppliers, hardware designers, and manufacturing engineers to set and manage quality standards. The engineer will drive supplier qualification processes and lead initiatives to resolve critical issues. The position is part of a team focused on developing innovative silicon solutions for Google's consumer products.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, reliability or product engineering.
- Experience with hardware in industries such as servers, automotive, or aerospace.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time as required.
Responsibilities
- Own the supplier quality and reliability for optics components, from NPI through end-of-life.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives during NPI phases to ensure the technical and operational readiness of the Optical components supply.
- Drive the supplier qualification process through on-site audits and technical assessments.
- Establish data-driven processes to monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement in quality and reliability.
- Develop and implement quality plans and process controls to proactively identify and mitigate risks in the optical components supply chain.
