Job description

The Thermal Manufacturing Engineer at Google will play a crucial role in enhancing manufacturing processes and product quality. This position focuses on collaborating with teams to improve manufacturability, cost, and supply chain availability. The engineer will also support initial process design and qualification for components and products. Additionally, the role involves leading manufacturing initiatives to increase production capacity and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 3 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a Manufacturing Engineer-related occupation.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, and 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a Manufacturing Engineer-related occupation.
  • 1 year of experience working with core manufacturing processes, including machining, stamping, injection molding, casting, welding, brazing, soldering, and mechanical assembly.
  • Experience in supplier management and the strategic execution of line, process, or vendor qualification protocols.
  • High proficiency with statistical tools for data-driven quality and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Influence technical designs through Design for Excellence (DfX) activities.
  • Support initial process design and qualification for components, parts, or products.
  • Lead manufacturing initiatives by designing, qualifying, and improving processes.
  • Implement process controls and analyze manufacturing data to identify trends.
  • Develop manufacturing test solutions by writing test plans and driving test coverage.
