Job description

The Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE) role involves overseeing the testing and validation of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. The position is part of the Amazon Commissioning team, which focuses on ensuring construction quality and operational functionality. The CxE will work closely with vendors, contractors, and various teams to manage commissioning processes and resolve technical issues. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or 5 years of relevant discipline work experience
  • High technical competency in either mechanical or electrical or control systems utilized in critical infrastructures
  • Ability to understand design concepts by reviewing mechanical or electrical design documentation
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint or similar tools
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in high stress environments
  • Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components

Responsibilities

  • Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure
  • Review design documents and equipment submittals to ensure compliance with Amazon standards
  • Lead Factory Witness Testing and manage third-party commissioning vendors
  • Audit commissioning vendor activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements
  • Report commissioning progress and metrics to the Regional Commissioning Manager
  • Coordinate site activities and prioritize tasks across various teams
  • Communicate lessons learned and participate in initiatives to improve the commissioning program
