Job description

The Commissioning Engineer at AWS is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the commissioning of critical infrastructure for new construction and special projects. This role involves working with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. The engineer will support vendors and contractors in the construction and commissioning of various systems, including power and HVAC systems. The position requires proactive communication and comprehensive reporting on project statuses and improvements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning specific education courses
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
  • Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
  • Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate multi-discipline division of work related to design review and commissioning of Amazon critical infrastructure.
  • Support vendors, contractors, and other teams involved in the construction and commissioning of various systems.
  • Develop and review electrical and mechanical component and integrated systems testing along with commissioning documents.
  • Ensure that all commissioning procedures follow appropriate safety practices and policies.
  • Audit commissioning activities continuously to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Proactively communicate with the ACx Regional Manager and the ACx team regarding test documents.
  • Provide comprehensive weekly reporting of the status of all ongoing projects, lessons learned, and program improvements.
