Job description

This role is part of the global controls team within AWS Infrastructure Services, focusing on the management and operation of building management systems (BMS) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS) in data centers. The team consists of diverse experts including software, hardware, and network engineers, and aims to deliver high safety and security standards while optimizing capacity and cost. The position involves troubleshooting, project management, and developing new processes in the controls space. Candidates will work closely with internal customers and stakeholders to ensure efficient operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of project management experience in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems
  • Knowledge of critical data center equipment and engineering documentation
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA
  • Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure

Responsibilities

  • Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders with BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to operations during the life cycle of the data center.
  • Review results and action items from quarterly maintenances for BMS and EPMS and resolve them.
  • Develop project scope of work, schedule, budget, and level of efforts for BMS and EPMS projects.
  • Manage scope, schedule, finance, and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects.
  • Assist in procurement activities including requests for quotations and review of vendor proposals.
  • Participate in the AWS global on-call schedule to provide immediate technical support.
  • Attend project-related meetings and coordinate with project leaders.
  • Support commissioning activities related to Controls projects in data centers.
  • Review, implement, troubleshoot, and iterate on controls sequence of operation.
  • Develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
  • Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate challenging situations.
  • Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts.
  • Visit assigned in-operation data centers to troubleshoot and supervise vendor work.
