The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that mechanical designs meet functional requirements, cost targets, and manufacturing constraints. Additionally, the position includes mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the continuous improvement of design processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 8+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience with prototyping, implementation, and scaling
- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
Responsibilities
- Deliver mechanical design projects from concept through production, ensuring designs meet functional requirements, cost targets, and manufacturing constraints.
- Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications for mechanical components and assemblies.
- Conduct engineering analyses including tolerance stack-ups, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Develop and execute test plans to validate mechanical designs against product requirements.
- Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing partners to integrate mechanical designs with other subsystems.
- Identify and resolve technical issues during development and production phases.
- Document design decisions, test results, and engineering changes.
- Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes.
Benefits
- Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
