Job description
The AWS Data Center Global Services team is seeking a Controls Design Engineering team member to enhance global data center design standards focusing on control, automation, and electrical power monitoring systems. This role involves collaborating with various teams to deliver consistent standards for data center controls systems and overall mechanical and electrical design practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data center environmental controls systems and project management. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or 5+ years of experience in building automation systems (BMS) and/or electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS) design and deployment.
- 2+ years of experience with data center or 'mission-critical' facility control systems.
- 2+ years of experience with HVAC systems, mechanical plant strategies, control programming concepts, low voltage electrical and/or experience with electrical distribution systems.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of job role.
- Master's degree in Engineering or related technical field is preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in controls design for mission-critical facilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of Modbus, BACnet, and other industrial communication protocols is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Track, document, communicate, and enhance global data center design standards.
- Provide Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) design coordination globally.
- Create, maintain, and disseminate specification documents that pertain to global projects.
- Lead and facilitate collaboration with multiple teams including construction, programmers, and engineers.
- Manage and prioritize requests for information on new construction builds and existing site facilities support.
- Anticipate roadblocks and risks while providing escalation management.
- Interact with AWS cloud services and other applications to present, archive, and analyze accumulated data.
