The Hardware Safety Compliance Engineer at Amazon Lab126 is responsible for ensuring that products meet safety standards and regulations. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle to identify and mitigate risks. • 3+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience with prototyping and implementation
• Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
• Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume

• Drive a standardized and harmonized approach to Safety Compliance across Amazon’s suite of products
• Support junior compliance engineers and design teams on safety compliance issues and failures
• Determine the applicable regulations, standards, and safety requirements for new and existing products
• Communicate technical safety and compliance requirements to design teams, operations, and contract manufacturers
• Participate in electrical and mechanical system design reviews to ensure that safety mitigations are properly implemented
• Engage with senior Amazon leaders to represent compliance-related topics
• Direct compliance testing and certification at external labs
• Review compliance evaluations for accuracy
• Contribute to international expansion and certification strategies
• Oversee all aspects of hardware compliance for a device when required
• Stay abreast of industry activities by participating in standards development committees or other industry organizations relevant to Lab126
