JobsResearch Scientist, Applied ML, Quantum Error Correction
Job description
The Research Scientist role focuses on applying machine learning techniques to develop automated discovery pipelines for Quantum Error Correction (QEC). The position involves uncovering new codes for fault-tolerant quantum computing, specifically for superconducting qubits and high-connectivity platforms. The scientist will work at the intersection of machine learning and quantum physics, contributing to both internal projects and collaborations with universities. The ultimate goal is to advance quantum computing capabilities and enable practical applications.
Requirements
- PhD degree in Quantum Computing, Math, Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- One or more scientific publication submissions for conferences, journals, or public repositories in the fields of machine learning or quantum computing.
Responsibilities
- Explore automated Quantum Error Correction discovery with machine learning to uncover new and novel quantum codes that achieve high encoding rate, high distance, or favorable layout in hardware.
- Apply Machine Learning algorithms to adapt error correction circuits to hardware constraints on connectivity.
- Analyze fault-tolerant circuits for syndrome measurement and logical operations.
- Simulate quantum codes under noise models and evaluate performance.
Benefits
- Employees at Google are often offered benefits like comprehensive health insurance, 401(k) matching, and flexible work arrangements, among other benefits.
