Job description

The Senior Software Engineer role at Amazon Redshift focuses on building systems that enhance Redshift clusters globally. The Query Processing team is responsible for the execution engine, which is crucial for handling massive parallel execution. This position offers the opportunity to define new features and architecture while mentoring other engineers. Candidates will work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to technology that supports analytical workloads for a diverse range of customers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
  • Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
  • Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language like C++, Java, or Rust
  • 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
  • Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Strong coding skills with emphasis on logical thinking, data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience with distributed systems architecture
  • Experience performing live system and core analysis using GDB

Responsibilities

  • Build systems that benefit Redshift clusters across the world.
  • Define new features and architecture for the overall product vision.
  • Convert complex requirements into meaningful projects that provide customer value.
  • Own and code end-to-end deliverables from design to operations.
  • Lead engineers on substantial projects and mentor team members.
