Job description

The role focuses on data center design and engineering within AWS Infrastructure Services, which is responsible for the global infrastructure that supports AWS operations. The team consists of diverse professionals including engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts, all working together to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency. The position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to assess and select colocation facilities that meet business needs. Candidates will have the opportunity to influence data center standards and processes on a global scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities such as data centers
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Experience with building codes and regulations for your region
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings and specifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site assessments against AWS standards for colocation data centers and telecommunications facilities.
  • Review vendor critical infrastructure designs and perform risk analysis for vendor-owned collocation data centers.
  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for new data centers in your region.
  • Troubleshoot and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for site/equipment failures.
  • Support operational issues with training and complex operating procedure reviews.
  • Own the design for existing data center upgrades to improve capacity and efficiency.
  • Lead and approve designs for existing co-location data center upgrades.
  • Interface with internal teams to promote standards for service consistency.
  • Initiate and lead engineering site audits within Amazon’s owned or colocation data centers.
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects.
