Job description
As an IT Support Engineer I at Amazon, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality support for computer hardware, operating systems, and enterprise application software. You will be part of the OpsTech IT team, which is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency of Amazon's global IT infrastructure. The position requires self-motivated individuals who can troubleshoot and solve problems while ensuring that IT solutions continuously improve. Your work will directly impact the speed and accuracy of Amazon's operations.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent diploma
- 2+ years of professional experience
- 2+ years of troubleshooting in a multi-user high availability environment experience
- 2+ years of networking experience including DNS, DHCP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP
- 2+ years of PC repair, troubleshooting, deployment and liquidation experience
- 1+ years of IT client, server, and network service delivery experience
- Valid Drivers License
- Fluency in Cisco/networking and either Linux and/or Microsoft
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field is preferred
- CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco/CCNA, Linux (Redhat), Microsoft hardware (installation), AWS, or other industry relevant certifications are preferred
- Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance is a plus
- Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing, planning, and managing time
- Experience in oral and written communication in English
- Experience working independently with minimal supervision, or 2+ years of Amazon experience
Responsibilities
- Perform network engineering and troubleshooting, data cabling, and systems administration in various software and hardware environments.
- Ensure infrastructure networking and computing systems remain available during production hours.
- Interact with management and staff to provide analytical and technical assistance for continuous improvement of IT solutions.
- Manage local technical projects.
- Maintain or create policies, procedures, and processes.
- Identify root causes of operational issues and process inefficiencies.
- Move up to 49lbs as well as stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
- Support customers from multiple buildings in the area, as well as remote customers.
- Travel within your local or regional area to support customers.
