As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Field Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers, focusing on design, maintenance, and operational efficiency. You will serve as a fire protection engineering expert, collaborating with diverse teams to ensure safety and reliability across multiple regions. This role involves mentoring others, troubleshooting issues, and developing innovative solutions to enhance data center operations. You will work closely with various stakeholders to maintain high standards of safety and security.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer License.
- Experience with fire and building codes and standards, including NFPA, NEC, FM Global standards, IFC, and IBC.
- 3+ years of experience working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
Responsibilities
- Provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.
- Serve as the recognized fire protection engineering expert for a broad range of fire and life safety issues.
- Develop relationships with authorities having jurisdiction to better serve customers and communities.
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers in your region.
- Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
- Mentor and train customers and partner engineers in fire protection principles.
- Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions.
- Interface with internal teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability.
- Initiate and lead engineering audits, producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations.
- Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.
