The Security Engineer role within the VMR Campaign Management team at Amazon focuses on assessing and remediating security, compliance, and privacy risks across the Amazon ecosystem. The team is responsible for creating and launching security campaigns at scale while maintaining high security and quality standards. This position requires a deep understanding of technical details and the potential impact of security measures. The role emphasizes automation and collaboration with security teams to enhance operational capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
  • Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques.
  • 2+ years of programming experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • 5+ years of industry-based experience in identifying security vulnerabilities, attack patterns, and remediation techniques.
  • Experience with AWS products and services.
  • 3+ years of networking and troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create and launch security campaigns at scale while maintaining high security and quality standards.
  • Assess the technical details and potential impact of security campaigns across Amazon's infrastructure, services, and applications.
  • Reduce manual remediation and builder toil through automation and paved path solutions.
  • Work with security teams to identify preventative security measures to address current and future risks.
  • Design and implement automation, tools, and workflows to enhance operational capabilities.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
