The Controls Integration Engineer is an early-career technical role focused on the deployment, integration, and commissioning of automated material handling equipment. This hands-on position involves working closely with senior engineers to support the installation of Industrial PCs, PLCs, and industrial networks. The engineer will develop expertise in field commissioning while receiving mentorship and progressively taking on more responsibility. The role emphasizes technical skill development in controls, electrical systems, and industrial automation.
Requirements
- Strong foundational knowledge in controls, electrical systems, and industrial automation.
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
- Experience with Linux/Unix.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes.
Responsibilities
- Support on-site commissioning activities for sorters, conveyors, and automated work cells under the direction of senior engineers.
- Assist with provisioning, configuring, and validating Linux-based IPCs, PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, and field devices per project standards.
- Perform I/O checkouts, point-to-point wiring verification, and device-level validation.
- Execute defined commissioning and test procedures, documenting results and flagging deviations.
- Troubleshoot device-level and subsystem-level issues including sensor faults, communication errors, wiring discrepancies, and basic PLC logic issues.
- Work alongside technicians, electricians, and contractors during system installation and commissioning.
- Support equipment validation against design specifications and controls standards.
- Actively develop technical skills in PLC programming, industrial networking, and commissioning methodology.
