·FY 2025Job description
The Senior SoC Software DevOps Engineer role focuses on enhancing the development of software for AWS's advanced custom machine learning chips. This position is vital for supporting the Trainium and Inferentia silicon families, ensuring timely software readiness for large-scale AI training. The engineer will manage CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure, enabling software teams to concentrate on feature development. The role operates at the intersection of hardware and software, requiring expertise in infrastructure engineering to address unique challenges.
Requirements
- 7+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
- Experience programming in Python and at least one of the following: Bash, Go, C++, or Java.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
- Experience with AWS services including Lambda, S3, EC2, CloudWatch, IAM, and Secrets Manager.
- Experience with Linux-based build and development environments.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Experience with Amazon's internal build and release systems.
- Experience building cross-environment or cross-account automation.
- Experience with Jenkins pipeline development and administration.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing or supporting hardware/silicon development teams.
- Experience building observability infrastructure such as dashboards and alerting systems.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end CI/CD pipelines and release processes for all SoC software components.
- Design, maintain, and evolve systems that produce reliable releases for internal verification teams and external AWS services.
- Ensure pipelines function across heterogeneous environments such as corporate networks and VPC.
- Develop hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure that validates SoC software on actual silicon.
- Create frameworks to run tests on real chips and simulate pre-silicon environments.
- Build observability tools that track build health, test coverage, and pipeline performance.
- Identify and remove friction in development workflows using data-driven insights.
- Solve novel problems like bridging disconnected environments and orchestrating synchronized releases.
Benefits
- Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
