Job description

The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer will lead the mechanical design of automated fulfillment center projects at Amazon. This role involves overseeing complex projects, managing engineering teams, and ensuring the integration of mechanical systems with other building components. The engineer will also focus on team development, stakeholder management, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position is crucial for shaping the future of Amazon's logistics network.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in implementing and designing material handling systems
  • Experience in project management or leading teams
  • Ability to use Project Planning & Deliverables Tracking
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2D & 3D
  • Experience with AutoDesk Suite of tools (Revit, Navisworks, Vault, BIM360, ACC, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Extensive experience in material handling, logistics, or construction industries
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate teams and drive results
  • Exceptional communication skills to manage stakeholder expectations
  • Proven ability to develop talent and build high-performing engineering teams

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct comprehensive layouts for multiple automated material handling system projects
  • Lead the selection and specification of conveyor types and systems across projects
  • Manage coordination with electrical, controls, and structural engineering teams
  • Develop and manage mechanical engineering project plans and schedules
  • Lead coordination with internal and external construction teams
  • Maintain communication with on-site construction teams and senior leadership
  • Directly manage and mentor junior engineers
  • Ensure all mechanical designs meet safety and performance standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and drive innovation
  • Oversee installation and commissioning activities across multiple projects
