The Data Center Chief Engineer (CE) role at AWS involves ensuring the optimal operation of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The CE will lead a team responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure and delivering first-class customer service. This position requires collaboration with various teams to uphold safety and efficiency standards while managing both routine and emergency services. The role also includes capacity planning and may involve assisting in the design and build-out of new facilities.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in vendor management
• Experience in a data center or other critical environment
• Experience in data center engineering or operations
• Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Experience in construction or project management

• Manage and lead the DCEO Engineering Team
• Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analysis, and prepare reports on critical facility operations and maintenance
• Oversee the on-site management of shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors
• Manage routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, and UPS systems
• Plan and report on data center capacity
• Assist in the design and build-out of new facilities as needed
• Coordinate projects with IT managers and other business leaders to optimize safety and performance
• Deliver quality service to meet all customer demands
• Manage asset and inventory effectively
• Respond to out-of-hours emergency calls as a second-level escalation point for facility-related issues
