The Security Engineer role focuses on delivering innovative security solutions to protect customer data at Amazon. The Customer Service Application Security team seeks a talented engineer to partner with development teams, embedding security into applications from the ideation stage. This position involves evaluating system designs for security gaps, building automated security assessments, and contributing code for security fixes. • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of programming experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++, or similar object-oriented languages.
• Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
• 3+ years of experience with application security frameworks, identity and access controls, incident response, mobile security, cloud computing and security, AI security, threat intelligence, and penetration testing.
• 2+ years of experience with threat modeling, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration, and network security.
• Experience with AWS products and services.
• Experience implementing security solutions at the business division level or equivalent.
• Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication.
• Experience leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate and scale security.

• Design, build, and maintain automated security guardrails and paved paths for secure-by-default practices.
• Engage early with development teams to embed security into applications from the start.
• Build automated, continuous security assessment capabilities to replace manual security reviews.
• Contribute code for security fixes and paved path solutions alongside developers.
• Partner with developers to create scalable, self-service security tools for identifying and remediating security risks.
• Design and implement preventive and detective security controls for continuous assurance.
• Collaborate with security stakeholders to define and drive the long-term security strategy.
• Participate in periodic on-call rotations to support security incidents.
