Job description

As a Principal Applied Scientist at Viva Engage, you will focus on building Agentic applications and predictive models that enhance communication and knowledge sharing across organizations. You will work with a high-performing team to drive AI applications and copilot adoption, addressing key challenges in digital safety and analytics. This hands-on role requires you to deliver applied science solutions and contribute to the development of AI-driven capabilities. Your work will directly impact user engagement and the overall success of the Viva Engage platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience.
  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience.
  • Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship machine learning and LLM-driven capabilities for Viva Engage.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of applied science solutions from problem framing to deployment.
  • Develop and operationalize AI agents for knowledge discovery and community engagement.
  • Work with large, complex datasets to solve non-routine product problems using advanced statistical methods.
  • Utilize Large Language Models for advanced text analysis and natural language understanding tasks.
  • Leverage generative AI techniques to enhance data augmentation and predictive capabilities.
  • Develop product intuition to influence future product roadmaps and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to craft experiments and test hypotheses.
  • Communicate complex technical decisions into product implications and expected outcomes.
  • Operate effectively in complex, cross-team environments and drive alignment through technical leadership.
