The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be part of the Mechanical Products and Services team at AWS, focusing on the design and continuous innovation of data center infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure high standards of safety, security, and cost-effectiveness. The engineer will take ownership of designing resilient mechanical systems that enhance reliability and scalability. This position can be based in either Seattle, Washington or Herndon, Virginia.

• 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
• Professional Engineering or Architectural License
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment

• Define and design liquid cooling equipment and related infrastructure
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop new data center product solutions
• Support field engineering and data center operation teams in root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center products
• Maintain and develop technical design procedures for piping and pipe support analysis
• Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers and senior management
• Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas
• Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating ownership
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate mechanical components
• Write functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
