Job description

The Senior Software Engineer role in the Bloomberg Finance Development team focuses on designing, deploying, and enhancing custom applications for the Finance and CFO community. The team works on web-based and Microsoft Office Add-In applications, as well as infrastructure automation and external systems integrations. This position involves close collaboration with business users to create solutions that address inefficiencies and complex business problems. Engineers will be exposed to a variety of technologies and systems, contributing to Bloomberg's ongoing success.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience programming and systems design utilizing object-oriented languages such as C# or JAVA.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience creating and working with web and Windows services.
  • Experience with relational database design, including SQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Understanding of fundamental networking concepts such as firewalls and proxy traversal.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business users to create and enhance custom applications.
  • Build and maintain web and desktop applications, Office Add-Ins, and back-end system automation tools.
  • Interact with existing systems and their supporting teams to utilize Bloomberg infrastructure and tools.
  • Develop bespoke solutions to solve complex business problems.
  • Work closely with users to understand and address their business challenges.
