Job description

As a Bridge Engineer at Jacobs, you will be an integral part of the Bridge Team, working on transportation projects in Pennsylvania and the East-Central region. Your role will involve designing new bridges, rehabilitating existing structures, and addressing various engineering challenges. You will collaborate with a talented team, contributing to innovative solutions that enhance infrastructure. This position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for both remote work and in-person collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • P.E. licensure in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Previous professional bridge design experience including precast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, and structural steel
  • Demonstrated experience on various types of bridges, including analysis, design, and plan development of new and rehabilitation projects
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
  • Thorough understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications to transportation structures
  • Extensive working knowledge of CAD systems - MicroStation and AutoCAD

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of projects through the conceptual/study phase, preliminary engineering, and final design and through to construction
  • Assist in the development of specifications, cost estimates, and preparation of final bid packages
  • Prepare and supervise staff in the CAD development of bridge details and plans sets
  • Compile Bridge Type, Size, and Location Studies
  • Coordinate bridge layouts, details, and constraints with other disciplines including Roadway, Drainage, and Survey
  • Identify creative and innovative bridge engineering solutions based on client, project, and site constraints
  • Perform calculations, assemble calculation packages, and provide bridge load ratings
  • Coordinate with a team to meet project milestones
  • Perform construction site visits as needed
