Job description

The Bridge Engineer will be a key member of Jacobs' Northwest Bridge Team, working on a diverse range of transportation projects across the Northwest and nationwide. This role involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to provide technical expertise in the design and construction of transportation structures, including bridges. The position is based in Boise, Idaho or Spokane, Washington, and offers opportunities for professional growth in structural design. The engineer will also play a vital role in mentoring junior staff and coordinating design activities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 – 10 years of progressive experience as a Structural Engineer in the design of transportation structures and/or bridges.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited university or college.
  • ID Professional Engineer License or the ability to obtain within one year.
  • Experience with multiple structure types including precast and post-tensioned concrete girder bridges, steel girder bridges, bridge widenings, and bridge rehabilitations.
  • Strong technical skills and a thorough understanding of technical standards for bridge design, construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in completing transportation structure design and construction projects from conceptual and preliminary design to final design and construction.
  • Develop structural calculations, designs, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct field inspections and produce technical memorandums and reports.
  • Train, direct, and mentor junior engineers and CAD staff.
  • Coordinate design activities and meetings between Jacobs staff and subcontractors.
