Job description

The Senior Substation Electrical Engineer will lead the Substation Electrical Engineering discipline within the Transmission & Distribution Team at Jacobs in Boston, MA. This role involves managing multiple projects while ensuring timely and on-budget delivery of design packages. The engineer will mentor junior staff and coordinate with other engineering disciplines to meet client objectives. This position focuses on delivering high-quality engineering solutions for power systems and equipment.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Facilities Engineering or closely related degree from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 15+ years’ post-education experience, preferably with extensive background in Transmission and Distribution & Power Substation systems.
  • Ability to inspect and design various high and low voltage power systems.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE and ANSI.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver design packages relevant to the Substation Electrical Engineering discipline on time and within budget.
  • Manage a group of engineers to achieve project goals efficiently.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff in their professional development.
  • Coordinate interfaces with other engineering disciplines to ensure project success.
  • Support the Project Engineer in achieving overall project goals.
