Job description

The Structural Engineering Intern will join the Advanced Facilities team at Jacobs, working on projects that include the design of industrial and commercial facilities. This role is focused on performing calculations and evaluations for structural design, while gaining hands-on experience with client expectations and project management. Interns will collaborate closely with Professional Engineers and Designers, enhancing their understanding of structural systems and their integration with other disciplines. The position offers mentorship opportunities to help interns develop their skills and prepare for future careers in engineering.

Requirements

  • Pursuit of a degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, AutoCAD, and Revit
  • Previous relevant internship experience or Structural Engineering Research
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Perform calculations and evaluations in the design of structures such as multi-building complexes and datacenters
  • Assist in the performance of structural analysis and design for various projects
  • Collaborate with the Structural Lead, Project Managers, and Professional Engineers
  • Communicate structural requirements effectively with Designers
  • Check work for accuracy and seek guidance when needed
