Job description
As a Tunnel Engineer at Jacobs, you will join a dedicated team in the Midwest focused on planning, designing, and constructing tunnels and underground structures. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to critical infrastructure projects. You will be involved in evaluating ground conditions, performing numerical modeling, and preparing design drawings. Your contributions will help shape innovative solutions that address real-world challenges in civil engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil, Geological, or Mining Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited program.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to support and work with multi-disciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification or on track to obtain one.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of experienced tunnel engineers.
- Maintain effective communications with the engineering team and clients.
- Evaluate and characterize ground conditions and geotechnical parameters.
- Perform numerical modeling for excavation design and ground behavior predictions.
- Prepare design drawings and assist in specifications preparation.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to present findings and recommendations.
- Review contractor construction submittals.
- Observe and report on construction activities and ground conditions during construction.
- Perform field investigations as needed by the project.
