Job description

The Structural Engineer/Inspection Team Leader will be a key member of Jacobs' New England team, focusing on bridge and tunnel inspection projects. This role involves working with various clients, including state departments of transportation, to ensure compliance with inspection standards. The engineer will lead inspection teams in the field, manage project schedules, and assist in bridge design and rehabilitation efforts. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects that enhance transportation safety and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree
  • Substantial years of professional project experience on bridge and/or tunnel inspection and design
  • Qualified NBIS team leader for bridge and tunnel inspections
  • Prior completion of FHWA-NHI two week course (Safety Inspection of In-service Bridges)
  • Prior completion of FHWA-NHI tunnel inspection course (Tunnel Safety Inspection)
  • Experience performing NBIS inspection of various types of bridges

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections per NBIS and NTIS standards serving as a Team Leader.
  • Assist in the scheduling of traffic closures and coordination with DOT personnel.
  • Complete and check bridge inspection reports for timely submission to respective DOTs.
  • Lead inspection teams in the field for tunnel inspections and report action items.
  • Assist in scheduling inspection work and coordinating equipment rentals.
  • Prepare design documents for tunnel repair and rehabilitation contracts.
