Job description

The Power System Studies Engineer will work closely with regional and global power systems teams to support and lead projects focused on renewable energy generation. This role involves collaborating with various clients, including renewable developers and utilities, to ensure compliance with interconnection requirements. The engineer will apply their expertise in power system modeling and analysis to contribute to the energy industry's transition towards decarbonization. The position offers flexibility with remote work options, although preference is given to candidates in specific North American cities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 4 years of direct experience with system studies on utility scale renewable projects.
  • Experience with power system studies using PSS/E, ETAP, and PSCAD or other equivalents.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, and CIGRE.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a focus on achieving results.
  • Team player with great interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within North America.

Responsibilities

  • Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination, TOV, arc flash, and harmonics.
  • Conduct external power system studies related to interconnection to ensure compliance with interconnection requirements and NERC standards.
  • Support system studies projects throughout the entire lifecycle from technical bid to execution and close-out.
  • Contribute to the delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with team members across North America and globally.
  • Engage with different types of customers including renewable developers, utilities, and ISOs/RTOs.
  • Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder forums and other technical committees such as IEEE or CIGRE.
