Job description

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer role at Jacobs involves leading projects focused on geotechnical data collection and analysis. The position is based in Morristown, NJ or New York City and supports the Northeast Region. The engineer will work within a large interdisciplinary design team and will have opportunities to mentor junior staff. This role emphasizes collaboration with clients and advancing the technical capabilities of the regional office.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of geotechnical consulting experience with a focus on dam, levee, or related projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in field assignments including observation of explorations and laboratory testing of soils and rock.
  • Design and installation of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring.
  • BS in Civil Engineering; MS with concentration in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects in the development and implementation of geotechnical data collection programs.
  • Conduct geotechnical analyses and prepare technical reports.
  • Develop contract documents and provide support during project construction.
  • Mentor junior staff and interact with existing and prospective clients.
  • Assist in business development efforts and advance the technical capabilities of the regional office.
