Job description

The Sr. Electrical Engineer at Jacobs will focus on designing and specifying electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role involves collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to manage complex projects and ensure high-quality deliverables. The engineer will lead the preparation of contract documents and engage in both internal and external business opportunities. The position emphasizes innovative solutions that contribute to sustainability in electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and ability to be licensed in multiple states or ability to obtain PE license within one year of hire
  • Substantial years of experience in professional design of electrical systems associated with water projects
  • Low and medium voltage power distribution experience
  • Solid understanding of applicable industry electrical codes and standard practices, including the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA requirements
  • Hands-on knowledge and design proficiency in electrical standards, codes, and vendor equipment options
  • Electrical system testing and commissioning experience
  • Proficiency with NFPA 820 requirements

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for design and specification of electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.
  • Lead in preparing contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for complex projects.
  • Expertly apply knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering and design concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines.
  • Manage several different assignments simultaneously and provide quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans.
  • Perform power system studies for electrical systems including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash.
  • Conduct field visits and site investigations for public and private clients.
  • Provide services during construction including submittal reviews and response to Contractor’s requests for information.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams across multiple office locations and develop basis of design reports.
