Job description
As a Building Mechanical Engineer at Jacobs, you will play a crucial role in designing mechanical systems for various infrastructure projects, primarily focusing on municipal facilities for water and wastewater. Your expertise will contribute to innovative solutions in plumbing, HVAC, odor control, and fire protection systems. You will collaborate with architects and engineers across disciplines to ensure project success while mentoring less experienced team members. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience producing plumbing, HVAC, odor control, and fire protection design drawings and specifications.
- PE License, or ability to obtain immediately upon hire.
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, and IBC.
- Good writing skills and experience preparing technical specifications and reports.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and design of mechanical systems for municipal facilities.
- Prepare design drawings and specifications for submission to clients.
- Conduct field evaluations and develop as-built drawings.
- Manage and coordinate work with architects, technicians, and engineers of other disciplines.
- Support field staff during the construction phase of projects.
