Job description
The Electrical Engineer role at Jacobs involves supporting complex, high-impact projects in Orlando or Miami. The team focuses on delivering reliable, code-compliant electrical power systems for various construction and infrastructure projects. This position offers opportunities to work on commercial retail renovations, aviation projects, and municipal infrastructure. The engineer will be involved from early design through construction, ensuring systems meet project schedules and client expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- 4+ years of experience in electrical power and construction design
- FE exam passed or ability to pass within 6 months of hire
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Experience with electrical analysis software such as SKM PTW or EasyPower
- Working knowledge of the NEC and applicable building codes
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical engineering design for power distribution systems in various projects.
- Develop one-line diagrams, panel schedules, feeder sizing, and equipment layouts.
- Design electrical systems including switchgear, switchboards, transformers, and panelboards.
- Conduct load calculations, short circuit, and coordination studies using relevant tools.
- Prepare construction documents using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM platforms.
- Coordinate closely with civil, mechanical, structural, and architectural teams.
- Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction administration.
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and support field coordination.
