Job description

The Senior Structural Engineer will join Jacobs' Federal Solutions design team in Honolulu, Hawaii, focusing on the design of structural systems for various building types, including airports and government facilities. This role involves collaboration with architects and engineers to create innovative solutions for complex structural challenges. The successful candidate will leverage their extensive experience to lead projects and mentor junior engineers. The position emphasizes the importance of strong communication and relationship-building with clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis, Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 10+ years of relevant buildings-related structural design experience.
  • Proficiency with structural design and analysis software such as ETABS, RISA, STAAD.Pro, and RAM.
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes and standards including IBC, ASCE, AISC, and ACI.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • United States citizenship due to Federal client requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide complete design solutions from concept to final design and construction.
  • Lead and mentor other structural engineers and BIM designers through project execution.
  • Design and analyze structures to meet project-specific and code requirements utilizing finite element analysis and hand calculations.
  • Develop clear and comprehensive calculations, basis of design documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Perform construction administration activities including review of submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
  • Coordinate and communicate design solutions with clients and other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist with project planning, cost estimating, proposals, and project management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project managers.
