Job description

The Senior Overhead Transmission Line Engineer will work within Jacobs' Energy & Power Group, focusing on the design and development of overhead transmission line systems. This role involves collaborating with regional and global Transmission & Distribution teams to support utility and developer clients in their energy transition efforts. The engineer will be responsible for creating design deliverables for utility upgrades and will mentor team members across North America and globally. The position emphasizes the importance of client interaction and technical expertise in overhead transmission line design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) within the United States.
  • Minimum 8 years of direct Overhead Transmission Line Engineering design experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of NESC, RUS, ASCE and other industry design specifications.
  • Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS-Tower software.

Responsibilities

  • Interface directly with utility and developer clients to understand their standards and design guidelines.
  • Develop design deliverables for utility upgrades, including greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Provide engineering overview, expertise, and direction as an independent technical advisor.
  • Mentor team members and support the sales and proposal preparation process for new contracts.
  • Perform project scoping, prepare task orders, and conduct design reviews of work by others.
