Job description
The Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer will join a collaborative team at Jacobs, focusing on providing clients with innovative engineering solutions in the life sciences sector. This role emphasizes the development and delivery of project scopes, budgets, and schedules, ensuring successful outcomes for advanced facilities projects. The engineer will be responsible for leading a team and tackling complex challenges while benefiting from mentorship opportunities. The position is based in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, and offers a hybrid work setup.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- At least 10 years of related experience, specifically in pharmaceutical facility design including cGMP manufacturing facilities
- Professional Engineer (PE) License is highly preferred
- Knowledge of building load calculation software such as Trane Trace or Carrier HAP
- Understanding of or experience using AutoCAD, Revit, and other 3D design tools
- Knowledge of building codes and industry standards is required
- Central Utility Plant design experience including large chilled water systems and steam boiler systems is required
- Ability to lead a mechanical/utilities team from concept design through start-up is required
Responsibilities
- Develop overall conceptual and basis of design level design approaches and documentation
- Create HVAC and plant utility systems philosophies
- Develop mechanical and utility equipment and construction specifications
- Perform temperature, humidity control, and utility load calculations
- Create airflow diagrams, pressurization plans, and ductwork and piping plans
- Develop P&IDs, equipment plans, and plant utility distribution plans
- Establish building management system (BMS) control philosophy and details
- Provide construction assistance through submittal reviews, RFI responses, and field visits
- Direct activities of CAD/REVIT Designers and utilize CAD and modeling programs as necessary
- Manage and develop mechanical/utilities scope for project budgets and schedules
- Market services to clients and maintain client relationships
